Failure to provide a valid Environment Agency rod license could result in prosecution (maximum fine £2,500)

If you do not hold a current rod license, then you can purchase one from The Manderson Trust, at your local post office or on the Environment Agency website. The area is regularly visited by Environment Agents so please be warned – do not get caught without a license!!

Anyone aged 12 years and above who fish for salmon, trout and freshwater fish or eels in England and Wales must have an Environment Agency Rod Fishing License.

One rod license permits you to fish with up to two rods and line at any one time for coarse fish and eels, but with only one rod and line for trout, sea trout, char and salmon. An additional license is required if you wish to fish with more than two rods.

Rod License Prices for 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009

Children under 12 years of age do not require a rod fishing license.

You are eligible for a concessionary license if:

• You are aged 12 to 16 inclusive. (Junior)
• You are aged 65 years or over. (Senior)
• You receive: (Eligible disabled)

1. Long-term incapacity benefit
2. Short-term incapacity benefit (at the higher rate)
3. Severe disablement allowance
4. A war pension which includes unemployability supplement

Anglers aged 65 or over will need to provide one of the following:

• Birth certificate
• Drivers licence
• Retirement pension book or card
• Valid passport
• Medical card

Eligible disabled anglers will need to provide one of the following:

• Current order book showing receipt of the appropriate benefit
• A Giro payment slip showing receipt of the appropriate benefit
• Last year's rod licence showing disabled concession plus an additional proof of identity
• A letter from the War Pension Directorate confirming eligibility
